Wapati Cabin

The Wapiti Cabin is located 13 miles south of Big Sky. The cabin is rustic and located on a hill top meadow lined with trees. The maximum party size for the cabin is 4 people.

This is a one room cabin with 4 army cots, wood stove, dishes, pots, pans, table and chairs, axe, shovel, broom, and mop. There is no electricity or water. Need to bring your own drinking water. Plus visitors should bring their own equipment, including a camp stove and fuel, lanterns (please no candles), toilet paper, bedding and pillow. An outhouse is located just east of the cabin. Firewood is provided for the wood stove only.

Recreation opportunities in the area include several trailheads. Access to the Big Sky Snowmobile trail is next to the cabin. Hay and feed brought in must be Montana weed-free certified.

Usage fee is $30 a night. Reservations are done online at www.recreation.gov. The road is plowed to within three miles of the cabin and is accessible by cross-country skis or snowmobile in the winter. Road access only in the fall.

Grizzly Bears live in the area, store your food, beverages, coolers and garbage inside the cabin. Please pack out what you pack in, including garbage.
