Waterhole Saloon
The Waterhole Saloon is an authentic Wild West Saloon and Restaurant with a watering trough and hitching posts. Known worldwide, the Waterhole is featured in 'The Pub Crawler's Guide to Montana's Smaller Town Taverns.' The Waterhole's unique interior features rough wooden walls, log beams, antiques, and thousands of dollars worth of coins driven into the beams. It also boasts an extensive license plate collection and is full of exciting and eclectic treasures, often gifted to the saloon by patrons since its doors opened in 1975.
The Waterhole Saloon is located in the small town of Reed Point, just an hour from Yellowstone Park and a mere half-mile away from the Yellowstone River. While in town, grab a bite and enjoy many other recreational activities such as fishing, hunting, rock hounding, hiking, and river floating. Yearly, Reed Point hosts The Great Montana Sheep Drive (which swells the average population of 100 to more than 5,000) and the Street Dance (AKA Party of the Year) during the Yellowstone Boat Float.
Boasting a menu to serve locals and weary travelers, the Waterhole offers refreshing beverages (true to its name as a “waterhole” in the middle of a long stretch of Montana highway) and an ever-expanding menu. Under new ownership as of 2023, the Waterhole is committed to being open regularly – Thursday thru Monday -- with quality food, service, and an authentic small-town charm. As the new owners say, “The minute you walk through the front door, you’re a friend.”
The Waterhole belongs to the Carbon-Stillwater Tavern Association
