Ski Vacation! Yellowstone Country Resorts
Ski resorts in Yellowstone Country are nothing short of spectacular. Red Lodge Mountain, Bridger Bowl and Big Sky Resort each have their own unique vibe, but they all have one thing in common—awesome skiing.
Red Lodge Mountain
Tucked at the base of the Beartooth Mountains, this quintessential ski town is just far enough off the beaten path to feel remote, but getting there is a cinch. The terrain is great for any age and ability, and if you hop over to Cole Creek Drainage, you’ll find powder stashes the locals have kept secret for years. With Montana’s largest snowmaking system, fresh tracks are often within reach.
The town of Red Lodge is full of great restaurants and old-school pubs. Watch for live music at the Snow Creek Saloon. If you’re looking for a uniquely western stay, try The Pollard, a historic hotel that was frequented by Buffalo Bill Cody and Calamity Jane.
Opening Day: Friday, November 23, 2018
Big Sky Resort
“Big” is definitely the word to describe skiing on Lone Peak. The mountain boasts 36 lifts, 5,850 skiable acres, 4,350 vertical feet and over 300 runs. Take the tram to the top and you’ll land at 11,166’ where you can see three states and two national parks! If your legs need a break, try a dog sledding or zip line adventure. Expansion is already underway, with the new Ramcharger 8; the first eight-passenger chairlift and first Doppelmayr D-Line lift in North America.
For a truly ski-in, ski-out experience, stay at one of the hotels at the base of the mountain. On-mountain dining options range from killer burritos and soup shacks, to fine dining at the top of Andesite Mountain.
Opening Day: Thursday, November 22, 2018
Bridger Bowl Ski Area
Bridger earned a reputation for its extreme skiing, turning out professionals such as Scot Schmidt and Doug Coombs. The Ridge Terrain is some of the most challenging skiing and riding within any ski area boundary. However, the exciting news is the completion of a major expansion in their beginner terrain, with seven acres of wide-open, gentle slopes, two covered moving carpets and a warming hut.
Bozeman is just 20 miles from Bridger, a bustling college town with a lively nightlife. Save some energy from skiing, because between restaurants that rival any city, plus music, art and theater, your evenings could tire you out as much as the slopes!
Projected Opening Day: December 7, 2018.
