Where to Stay Near Yellowstone National Park

As the winter season in Yellowstone National Park wraps up and plowing gets underway for the summer season, you can still visit the Park from the North Entrance in Gardiner, where the road stays open year-round. You can also access Cooke City and Silver Gate, which are known for getting late-season snow that lasts through the spring.
Once the roads are clear, there’s generally a window where you can bike through Yellowstone before they open to vehicles, and if you can catch it, you’re in for a treat! (You can cross-country ski into the Park and tour if the snow sticks it out!) Summer amenities will begin to open on April 18, starting with the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center.
As you plan your visits, I encourage you to allow extra time for exploring (and staying!) in our gateway communities. For a quiet experience, Silver Gate Lodging offers an array of cabins, hotel rooms, and the iconic Range Rider Lodge. It’s a great place for those who want a more remote experience and who enjoy a quiet evening by a fire after a day of hiking or fishing.
In Gardiner, we suggest the Wonderland Café and Lodge. The six Yellowstone-themed rooms hold a maximum of 26 guests for a more intimate stay, and the restaurant, bakery, coffeehouse and lounge make dining easy — they even do sack lunches for your trips into the Park!
Down the road in Paradise Valley, Chico Hot Springs Resort and Sage Lodge are two local favorites with fine dining and miles of trails right out their back doors. If you’re lucky enough to get one of the crash pads, houses or canvas accommodations at Pine Creek Lodge, you’re in for a real treat. Their music lineup is arguably one of the best in the region, and the food is excellent, too!
In Livingston, the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriot and Home2 Suites by Hilton are both newer establishments. Alternatively, you could opt for the historic Murray Hotel, which is right downtown and within walking distance of Livingston’s excellent restaurants, unique retail shops and thriving art scene.
The C’mon Inn in Bozeman is a great place for families, with a large indoor pool, five hot tubs and a lovely atrium with a fishpond and waterfall. If you’re looking for a more urban, romantic vibe, the Kimpton Armory Hotel is a beautiful work of architecture designed around the landmark Armory building. It’s Bozeman’s only luxury boutique hotel, and it’s right in the middle of the bustling downtown.

Big Sky is another fun place for families. If you stay at Big Sky Resort, you can enjoy zip lines, archery, disc golf, horseback riding and scenic lift rides from which you can take in the breathtaking vistas, hike or bike trails downhill.
And, of course, West Yellowstone, the busiest entrance to Yellowstone, has several fun options. Parade Rest Guest Ranch offers an all-inclusive stay with horseback riding and fly-fishing options, and it’s just ten minutes from the West Entrance. Under Canvas is another unique accommodation, with glamping tents tucked away in a beautiful wildflower-filled meadow just outside town. (They also have a location in Paradise Valley.) Or, if you prefer an adult-exclusive stay, the 1872 Inn is a great option.
We’re looking forward to a great summer and hope you’ll join us!
