The 2023 Rodeo Season is Underway!

Rodeo season has kicked off here in Montana's Yellowstone Country, with Gardiner, West Yellowstone, and Wilsall all having great starts and packed crowds. Rodeo is one of those Western traditions that always retains its luster.
Each summer, cowboys and cowgirls from across the country compete with one another in timed events derived from actual ranch work, breaking horses, roping cows and chasing around horseback at high speeds. It's a fast-paced, high-intensity sport that is as much fun for spectators as it is for participants.

We're seeing even more rodeos this season, with new competitions in Jardine, Lone Mountain Ranch, and the Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman. In fact, there are over 16 rodeos across the region, and some of them, such as West Yellowstone and Big Timber, take place weekly. If you're headed our way this summer and want to catch a rodeo, you'll find plenty of options. Keep in mind some of the more significant events, such as the Livingston Roundup Rodeo and the Red Lodge Home of Champions Rodeo, sell out, so if you're planning to attend, be sure to get your tickets early and be sure to watch for the parades, live music and fireworks that are part of the celebrations!
