Spring skiing and riding are upon us, and while we’ll miss the deep powder days, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone around here who doesn’t also love the sunny days, soft snow, and camaraderie that comes with sharing a cold beverage on the deck after a fantastic day of shredding. It’s a ritual of sorts, the changing of seasons.

Our three ski areas are geared up for a great month, starting with 406 Denim Day at Bridger Bowl on April 6. Don your favorite denim outfit and get a $30 lift ticket! At 4 p.m., gather at the Jim Bridger Lodge patio for the Best Denim Contest. April 12 is their closing weekend, with live music on Saturday.

Red Lodge Mountain offers free skiing and riding for kids 12 and under during April. And if you’re a college student, April 18-20, enjoy three days of skiing for $99. Saturday is the Beach Bash at the yurt at the top of Stache Express, with an outdoor snow bar and chill area, music, food, corn hole, and disc golf.

Also at Red Lodge Mountain, the Mini Monster Rail Jam on April 5 for skiers and riders under 12, the first annual Snow Rodeo on April 13, which also concludes with a denim fashion show on the Bierstube deck — who says you can’t ski in jeans?

On Fridays, April 11 and 18, check out the Twilight Laps on Stache Express, $20 lift tickets from 3–5 p.m., followed by a fish and chips fry afterward. Easter Sunday is their closing day, beginning with an Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m., an Easter Service at 1 p.m., and live music to follow, keeping the vibe festive from 2–5.

Big Sky Resort is celebrating every weekend with its Spring Series, featuring live music at The Bowl, its new outdoor amphitheater located at the bottom of Powder Seeker 6. And DJ dance parties in the afternoons will have people rockin’ in their ski boots at the Mountain Village Plaza. The season will culminate with the return of the infamous Pond Skim on April 26, when daredevil skiers and snowboarders dressed in costume try their best to make it across the icy pond without getting wet.

Of course, there’s still plenty of snow for Nordic skiing at Lone Mountain Ranch, Rendezvous Ski Trails, and the Red Lodge Nordic Center.

It looks like a fantastic month, and we hope to see you out taking advantage of the spring snow festivities!
