Ski Area Roundup 2025-2026

We’re less than two weeks away from the start of ski and snowboard season. Big Sky Resort opens Wednesday, Nov. 26, followed by Red Lodge Mountain on Friday, Nov. 28, and Bridger Bowl is projected to start turning the lifts on Saturday, Dec. 6. We love all three of these ski areas, and each for different reasons. Big Sky is, well, big. You can explore for days and not cover all the terrain. Red Lodge Mountain provides an authentic, hometown experience. It’s suitable for all levels of skiers and riders, and saying the town of Red Lodge is anything but quaint is an understatement. As for Bridger Bowl, they have stayed true to their genuine, community-driven experience (IYKYK).
In other words, no matter what type of alpine experience you are looking for, you can find it in Montana’s Yellowstone Country.

Big Sky Resort
For the past ten years, Big Sky Resort has been executing an assertive plan to upgrade its lifts, amenities and overall operations, culminating with Kircliff, the all-glass, scenic viewing platform sitting at 11,166 feet. The new high-speed Explorer Gondola also debuts this year, and for the first time, riders on skis, snowboards or on foot can access the tram that leads to the top of Lone Peak, where you can view three states and two national parks. And for those more interested in the après ski part of the experience, this winter, the resort is hosting M, an elevated dining experience by the Alinea Group — a four-month culinary residency led by Chef Grant Achatz.

Red Lodge Mountain
Red Lodge Mountain is authentic Montana skiing. You’ll find a down-to-earth vibe that makes it feel as though you belong. For those learning to ski, check out their Learn 4 Life program. First-time skiers or snowboarders can purchase four lessons, four lift tickets and four rentals for ONLY $299, AND on completion, you get a season pass for the remainder of the year! Ladies, you may want to check out the Wednesdays for Women programs — ladies-only clinics with options for both advanced and beginner skiers and riders.
Bridger Bowl
Bridger Bowl is where skiing really came together for me, so I have a fondness for this community-focused ski area. They remain independent of any collective pass, offer a free shuttle bus service with plenty of options, and feature some fantastic terrain. A large landslide caused by heavy rains this past year has created a different experience for those used to skiing and snowboarding on the legendary Ridge. What that looks like under a blanket of snow is yet to be seen!
We hope to see you on the slopes!
