When it comes to shopping, the charming towns in Montana's Yellowstone Country are home to some incredible finds. Handmade, high-quality and unique items fill these little streets. Our towns may be small, but they pack a punch when it comes to shopping. Year-round, you’ll find inviting shops and local treasures that define the region’s character.

In Red Lodge, you’ll find specialty stores like Montana Candy Emporium, Alpaca Land with handmade alpaca clothing, Lewis and Bark’s Outpost (for the pet lovers), The Cigar Lane, and Sylvan Peak Mountain Shop. I also know people who can’t pass through town without a stop at Hometown Sister’s Boutique. And while you’ll find most of the shopping by walking up and down Broadway Street, be sure to round the block on 12th Street for the not-to-miss Babcock and Miles.

Livingston is another one of our favorite shopping destinations. The Kitchen Shop is a must-do, with the nearby Curated Closet and High Trash Boutique all full of treasures. Yellowstone Hat Company is one of the best for custom hats. Rooted in Montana has an impressive array of houseplants, and Bitterroot Records and Goods is a favorite for vinyl-lovers.

Bozeman has become the shopping hub of Montana, with new pockets of retailers ever expanding. Of course, you can spend an afternoon exploring Downtown Bozeman with its boutiques, art galleries and other specialty shops, but save some time for the newer areas. Gallatin Crossing (formerly Gallatin Valley Mall) has expanded into an outdoor walking mall with some fantastic brands (Free People, Anthropologie, Lululemon); the Cannery District is full of home goods (and great restaurants); and the newly expanded Brewery District has art, clothing, bakeries and, yes, breweries!

Big Sky Town Center continues to expand with interesting shops such as New West KnifeWorks, which not only sells kitchen utensils, but their sister store, Mountain Man Toy Shop, is perfect for the mountain man in your life. Think utility, pocket and hunting knives, plus cast iron, survival manuals, and beaver fur koozies! The Big Sky Artists Collective features paintings, photography, sculpture, and its open studio is a great place for aspiring artists to work alongside other artists. And of course, you’ll find some upscale shops like Belle Shops and Paparazzi Fur, which are also fun to explore.

These are just a few examples of the fun specialty shops you’ll find across the region — and no matter where you visit, look closely, you’ll be sure to find some gems.
