Get Ready for Some Rodeo!

Rodeo is as Western as it comes. What stemmed from skills needed to do actual ranch work has now evolved into a highly skilled competition requiring agility, finesse, strength and quick responses. It’s fast-paced and lots of fun!
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Livingston Roundup Rodeo, which began in 1924. It’s one of the bigger rodeos in the region, drawing professional cowboys from across the nation. This year’s events take place July 1-4, with an extra day added on for the milestone celebration. Also, to commemorate the anniversary, a community concert takes place on June 28, with CMA-award-winning artist John Michael Montgomery headlining the show. Montgomery recently announced he is winding down his touring career, so this may be one of the last opportunities to see him in Montana’s Yellowstone Country! Local musicians Stephanie Quayle, Jessta James and Levi Blom are also performing.
The Valley View Rodeo at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds in Bozeman is back for a second year. A six-week series with the finals on August 30, this lively rodeo has amateur and professional competition. The events on July 4, August 29, and August 30 are followed by live music, so watch the schedule for times!
