Fuel Your Yellowstone Country Adventure with a Local Bakery!

We’re headed straight into the cozy season here in Montana’s Yellowstone Country — temperatures have dropped, the ski hills all have all started to see snow, and we've officially busted out our UGG boots and cozy fleece.
Coffee shops offer seasonal drinks, restaurants shift from gazpachos to stews and baked goods provide a lovely start to many a fall or winter morning. When it comes to bakeries, there’s no shortage in this neck of the woods, from French-inspired breads and pastries to down-home pies, cakes, cookies and tarts, you’ll find it here. Many bakeries also offer limited breakfast and lunch options if you’re looking for something a bit heartier for your adventures.
Big Timber Bakery is known as much for its pies, cinnamon rolls and turnovers as they are for the wood-fired pizza and dinner specials of the comfort-food variety. You’ll find a similar menu at Blue Moon Bakery Pizzeria and Café in Big Sky. Consistently voted Best in Big Sky, they have delicious baked goods, gourmet pizza and generous sandwiches.

Bring your appetite if you’re coming to Bozeman — the bakeries are all amazing. Wild Crumb has been here the longest, and the lines out the door are a testament to their popularity. (Don’t worry, they move quickly!) Vienne came next, a French-inspired bakery, patisserie, and café. Now, Aurore, another French bakery, is so popular that they have opened a second location!

If you’re flying in or out of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Belgrade, you have a few options to grab on your way. New Day Bakery is known for its doughnuts (I hear the old-fashioned doughnuts are amazing). Sister’s Gluten-Free Bakery is the go-to for gluten-free, as well as dairy-free, vegan and organic eaters! Rise and Shine Bakery and Café is well-loved for its baked goods, but its breakfast burritos steal the show for those seeking a protein-powered breakfast.
If you’re planning a holiday trip to YC, be sure to pre-order your cakes, pies and other delicacies. Most bakeries offer special pre-order holiday menus, so check their websites!
Pack your layers, we’re headed into winter and there’s a lot of fun on the horizon!
