Considering the length of season, quality of snow, diversity of terrain, wildlife viewing and the incomparable winter experience of cross-country skiing in Yellowstone National Park, Montana’s Yellowstone Country is truly the cross-country skiing nexus of North America. Cross-country ski-specific venues such as West Yellowstone’s Rendezvous Ski Trail, Boundary Trail, Riverside Ski Trail and Bozeman’s Bohart Ranch, as well as Big Sky’s Lone Mountain Ranch dot the landscape. Additionally, the five Montana counties that make up Yellowstone Country are crisscrossed by literally thousands of kilometers of skiable terrain, much of it augmented with established cross-country trails. Over-the-snow tours and cross-country skiing in the World’s first National Park enable visits to areas inaccessible by any other means.
