Fall in Bozeman; A Family Affair

Bozeman is alive with color this time of year. It’s also full of people anxious for the snow to start flying. Fortunately, October is filled with family activities, a perfect way to enjoy fall.

Bridger Raptor Festival: October 7-9, 2016 Bozeman and Bridger Bowl ski area.

An annual event, the raptor festival is centered around the largest known Gold Eagle Migration in the United States. The event kicks off at the Museum of the Rockies at 7pm with Keynote Speaker - Marco Restani, Conservation Director of Montana Audubon Society speaking on,”Avian Migration: Pattern and Process, Risk and Reward.”  The main festival is located at Bridger Bowl ski area, where you can experience raptor viewing, nature walks and educational and entertaining programs for all ages.

Mazes

Manhattan, MT is home to the Montana Corn Maze, an intricate maze cut into 2.5 acres of corn. Hidden in the stalks are clues to a mystery, enticing you to the depths of the maze.

The Bozeman Maze, in Bozeman, MT made from hay bales, is another great place to take the family. In addition to the maze, you’ll find hay rides, concessions and kids activities, including a bungie jump trampoline.

A local farm offering seasonal crops to pick, including apples that you can press into juice on site. (Or you can bring your own!) The pumpkin patch is loaded with all size pumpkins to pick from, as well as weekend hay rides, straw forts and of course, a corn maze! Stop by Friday or Saturday nights in October to visit the Haunted Swamp.

Haunted House of Phobias: October 28-29, 2016, Little Red Schoolhouse, 10030 Cottonwood Road, Bozeman

A Bozeman Halloween tradition for almost 25 years, this haunted house is not for the faint of heart. This year’s theme is “Phobias” —yes, all of your worst fears in one house. A light’s on version runs from 5:30-7:00pm, but after that, it’s “lights out!” from 7:00-11:00pm.
